It has been a personal quest of mine for most of my 30 year career, to inspire young illustrators that I meet in person at various shows, schools and faires, to be the best they can be. Too often I hear the same stories from students across the US and abroad, that their school teachers and sometimes parents, try to discourage them from pursuing a career in illustration and fine Fantasy art. With the new opportunities provided by the internet, children books, movie industry and gaming all exploding over the last 15 years with Fantasy Sci-Fi and Horror content, it's hard to believe the old stereo types like" you will never make it in art" or "you'll be a starving artist never to be successful until you die" and of course, "artists never become successful or make a decent living until they do something insane like "cut their ear off". I can assure you that you don't have to cut your ear off to have a fulfilling career in Fine art Fantasy Illustration. What you do need is a love for art, determination, passion to pursue ones dream without exception and most of all practice, practice, practice!
